It Is What It Is is a bicycle hardware brand, or whatever it is.
Born out of a disillusionment with the prevailing trends and clichés in mainstream bike design, It Is What It Is aims to explore alternative possibilities. The name itself reflects this ambiguity —
a placeholder for something not yet summarized.
The logo is constructed by borrowing letters from existing bike brands which had, or have been, contributing timeless pieces to the bike world —— a subtle nod to its subversive roots, while we are not returning yet.

The debut product from IIWII is a frameset called the STB (Sorta Terrain Bike). Initially,
we aimed to develop an ATB (All-Terrain Bike), but given that there isn’t a single meter of slope or dirt
within 200 kilometers of Shanghai, our first bike model only accommodates 40c tires max, making it a “Sorta-Terran Bike.”
It’s meant to be a beater rig — a tool bike for bad ideas, whether it’s messing around the city, wandering through the woods, or just your daily grind - it doesn’t judge. In that sense, it’s a bit like the Nike × Tom Sachs
General Purpose Shoes. So, we boldly went with full external cable routing, hoping it’ll take you further than the Great Firewall.
And, AFAWK, industry’s first full chemical etched frame.
It took times, and still will.

Over a decade of riding fixed gear has changed us—first a daily thrill, plus a lot of crashing, then a deep source of creative energy. It came and went, but never truly left. We’re excited that something we’ve always meant to do is finally happening—today. Introducing the IIWII track frameset.
